Motorcycle Diaries

Saw the acclaimed movie 'The Motorcycle Diaries' last night. I saw the movie knowing almost nothing about Che Guevara, the cult South American figure on whose formative years the story was based. The story was his journey through South America on a motorbike along with a friend. What keeps the viewer gripped to the movie is the gradual growing up of the character, that starts off, as a carefree youth and gradually changes as he comes across suffering people during his journey. Not to forget brilliant acting performances by the two lead actors.

Even though the stories were pretty different I saw a strange similarity to the recent hindi movie Swades.

After seeing the movie I googled up all I could about Che Guevara. And the span of his life that the movie covers was in many ways the turning point in his life that made him the leader that he eventually became. Oh well, besides that I learnt a lot about Communism in South America.

Lost...

Big cities like New York or Bombay are awsome places to go out and have fun. If you have the right friends, there is always something to do.

However, if you do not have a purpose and/or know the right people, it can be quite suffocating in a big city as compared to somewhere else. Think about it, when you are a little down or do not have a definite plan or purpose and do not have anyone to hang out with as well, wouldnt you prefer to be in a quite small town where you do not see any people as opposed to be surrounded by swarms of young energetic people walking by you with a purpose, making you feel that everyone else besides you, is having the time of their life right this very moment...while you arent!

Kinda reminds me of that very well picturized Aamir Khan song in the second half of Dil Chahta Hai.

One week in my life....

Complete uncertainty - sudden travel - meeting new colleagues, getting drunk - meeting up with old friends, getting drunk - avoiding a DUI - crazy 12-hour work days - crazier 4 hours of sleep nights - eating granola bars for lunch - eating most expensive (n most awsome) pasta in the evening - one crazy (censored!) Thursday night - hungover Friday morning - missed movie shows - dissappointing cricket games - exciting asian stunt movie with no subtitles - even more exciting and funny voice overs (by me, who else?) - living in 3 states across the country - meeting vastly different acquaintances - showing people around Colorado and NYC....phew.....
GAME OVER
START AGAIN
Monday AM - Complete uncertainty...

My life, boring?.....naaaah.

Telemarketers...take that!

Out of the 100s of mails that I get from my company's management, there was this one about the national "Do not call" list, that I thankfully opened before clicking delete.

The mail says that in a few weeks, cell phone numbers are scheduled to be released to telemarketing companies and you may start to receive sale calls. Call this number from your cell phone 888-382-1222 or go online here and enter your cell phone number on the national DO NOT CALL list. It only takes a minute of your time and blocks your number for 5 years.

Lets make a telemarketer free cell phone world...together we can and we will make a difference ;)
